Updated October 2026
Many of our guides include numbers: prices, fares, distances, temperatures, dates. This page explains where those numbers come from, how we check them and what we do when we get something wrong. When a chart or table on this site says “Puglia Everyday research”, this is the method behind it.
Where our numbers come from
We start from official and primary sources wherever one exists, and we name the source next to each chart or table.
- ISTAT, the Italian national statistics institute, for population and household spending.
- Trenitalia for regional train fares and journey times, taken from its journey planner on a stated date.
- FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) for Blue Flag beaches, together with the town council that receives the award.
- NOAA NCEI for climate figures, using the WMO 1991–2020 climate normals for the nearest weather stations.
- Town councils, the Agenzia delle Entrate and Regione Puglia for rules, taxes, procedures and season dates.
Distances and drive times
Maps on this site use OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Where we give drive or walking times that no official source publishes, we calculate them with OSRM, an open-source routing engine, on OpenStreetMap data. These are times without traffic and rounded, so treat them as a guide, not a promise. We label them as our own calculation.
Prices from listing sites
Some prices, such as property asking prices, come from listing portals like Immobiliare.it. These are asking prices set by sellers, not sale prices, and they change month to month. We always name the portal and the month the figure refers to.
Our own calculations
When we derive a number ourselves, for example turning a percentage share into euros, we say so in the text or the caption. We do not mix our estimates with official figures without labeling them.
Checked-on dates
Fares, prices, timetables and rules change. Each guide states when we last checked its figures, for example “Prices and timetables were checked on 23 October 2026”. If you plan around a number, confirm it with the source before you travel or sign anything.
What we do not claim
We work from published data and named sources. Unless a guide says otherwise, we do not present our figures as the result of our own surveys or site visits.
Using our charts and data
Where we offer a chart’s data as a CSV download, you are welcome to use it. Please credit “Puglia Everyday research” and link to the page the chart comes from.
Corrections
If you spot a figure that is wrong or out of date, tell us through our Contact Us page and we will check it against the source. When we correct a number, we update the page and its checked-on date.
