Lecce is a city best seen on foot and best slept in small. Many of its boutique hotels sit inside restored palazzi and convents in the old town, behind heavy doors you would walk past without a second look, while a handful of fortified farmhouses (masserie) wait in the countryside a short drive out.
These are the ones worth knowing. All are small, several have only a handful of rooms, and summer weekends fill early. Details were checked against each hotel’s own site in October 2026; facilities and seasons change, so confirm before you book.
In the old town
Chiostro dei Domenicani
A former Dominican convent with a quiet cloister, vaulted rooms and stone walls, and a pool. Its restaurant, Gimmi, is listed in the Michelin Guide, which makes it an easy choice for a first night when you would rather not go looking for dinner.
Palazzo Sant’Anna
A historic palazzo in the center with an indoor pool, a spa and a terrace. Rooms mix period features with modern bathrooms, and it is one of the larger choices on this list.
Pollicastro Boutique Hotel
A 16th-century palazzo with individually designed rooms, a shared lounge and a roof terrace. The main sights are a few minutes’ walk away.
Palazzo De Noha
A courtyard house on Via Guglielmo Paladini, in the lanes behind the Duomo, with design-led rooms and a rooftop solarium with a small infinity pool. The station is about a ten-minute walk.
La Fiermontina
A five-star hotel set around a walled garden of olive trees just inside the old town, with a pool and a relaxed, residential feel. It has its own parking, which is rare this close to the center.
Palazzo Bozzi Corso
A small sister property of La Fiermontina, with only a few rooms and access to a garden. Personal service and a central position are the point.
Mantatelurè
Behind an archway in the Baroque center: six rooms and suites plus two apartments, a terrace and a garden hot tub. Small enough to feel like a private house.
Palazzo Maresgallo
A historic residence near Piazza Mazzini and Piazza Sant’Oronzo, with art-filled suites, a spa and a garden pool. Convenient for the shopping streets as well as the old town.
Palazzo Lecce, Epoca Collection
Six rooms on Via Roberto Caracciolo, some with private patios, plus a rooftop pool and a small spa. Rooms are on the compact side, which suits a short stay.
Just outside the city
Masseria Francescani
A fortified farmhouse dating from 1633, near Torre Chianca on the coast road about 10 km from Lecce, with gardens, a pool and nine rooms. You will want a car.
Masseria Trapanà
A countryside masseria a short drive from Piazza Sant’Oronzo, with garden suites, some with outdoor baths, and a restaurant. A quiet base for a few days between the city and the sea.
Choosing and booking
Most of the old town is a limited traffic zone, so ask the hotel where to leave the car and whether they can register your plate. Our guide to the Lecce ZTL explains the gates.
If you arrive in the evening, the walk from the car or the taxi rank is part of the welcome: the stone goes from white to honey as the lights come on, and the lanes are quieter than you expect. Pack a case with wheels that can handle paving stones.
